THE RINKABOUT US

GET TO KNOW OUR HISTORY

TEXOMA’S #1 PARTY PLACE!

rolling through 35 years

The original owners of Skatelands of America, Don and Audrey Brewer, first started their roller skating rink owner journey in Carl Junction, Missouri. After several years of successful business, they wanted to expand.  They set their eyes on Texas (I mean, who wouldn’t) and finally settled on building a brand new skating rink in Denison.

THE FAMILY GETS INVOLVED

more rinks are built

Don’s parents opened a skating rink at the same time in Monett and shortly thereafter in Neosho, Missouri. After completing the Neosho location, their daughter took over operating the Monett rink. Don’s other brothers opened skating rinks in Webb City and Miami, Oklahoma. The whole family wanted in on the fun!

Over the years we have had six roller skating rinks in our family with 4 STILL running today!

DENISON, TEXAS

family-owned and family-designed

The rinks our family designed and built from the ground up are Skateland in Neosho and Skatelands of America-Denison. The rinks were carefully and efficiently designed with the patrons’ safety and enjoyment in mind. The goal was to provide a fun, safe, and affordable family activity for the community!

Don started construction on Skatelands of America-Denison in 1984. This is the same year as his first-born child. Don made, supervised, and carried out MOST of the plans to buil the rink. After spending years collecting information and researching roller rink designs, ours has a nice, open feel where you can have eyes everywhere – and our 9200 square foot maple skate floor still receives compliments.

OCTOBER 1985

officially open for business

Don and Audrey Brewer ran this rink for 30 years while raising their three kids: Crystal, Amber, and Brandon. It was in 2015 that Don and Aubrey decided they were ready to retire from the business. Crystal (the oldest) and her husband, Bryan, left their careers as teachers to run the skating rink and keep the Skatelands family business alive and well.

Many of the same staff from the past 30 years are still around as well to help keep the legacy going.
